Malori Sleep Out Deck

A ceiling of stars

The Malori means ‘dreamer’ in Tswana and sleeping beneath a sky decorated with stars is indeed many travellers' idea of the perfect way to spend a night in Africa. The benefit of fulfilling this wish at The Malori is that you'll do so in luxury as the hideaway includes a king-size bed built on a raised deck in the middle of a magnificent 100,000 hectare five star private game reserve. The Malori's association with Tswalu's two Relais & Châteaux lodges ensures that the night out will be an extremely comfortable one that caters for both the discerning and adventurous at heart.

The Malori deck has a raised platform with thatched overhang to keep out the rain. You can also choose to sleep completely in the open further along the deck. The suite has weather-proof blinds which can be rolled up or down according to preference. Luxury abounds, with exquisite Aldona linen and indulgent robes and slippers. There is an outdoor toilet, basin and shower a short distance away on a lighted walkway.

Absorb the scenery on one of the deck's camping chairs or relax on a cushioned couch alongside a simple fold-up table. Enjoy panoramic views of the vast Kalahari plains and revel in the sunsets that seem specifically created for your enjoyment. Tswalu will provide children's camping beds, making it an ideal adventure for the whole family. A guide will escort you to the sleep-out on a game vehicle from The Motse or Tarkuni to the Malori where you'll enjoy welcome drinks, snacks, sundowners and a dinner prepared by the chef.

In the morning, a guide will bring you tea and coffee and set up a continental breakfast on the deck. Or you can choose to take a horse ride, walking trail or game drive back to the main camp, stopping for a picnic breakfast along the way.
