Bisate Lodge

Bisate Lodge places you at the edge of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, where forested slopes rise towards the Virunga volcanoes. From here, you look out across Bisoke, Karisimbi and Mikeno, their outlines shifting with the light and mist. The setting is purposeful, shaped by a long-term reforestation vision that extends the habitat of mountain gorillas. This is a base chosen for access, perspective and intent, where your stay connects directly to the landscape around you.

Gorilla trekking is the defining experience, guiding you through montane forest to spend a precious hour observing a habituated family at close range. Golden monkey tracking offers a lighter-footed alternative, while birding, guided walks and visits to local communities add more nuance. Back at the lodge, you can explore the tree nursery, spend time in the wine cellar or relax at the Sanctuary spa, where treatments draw on Rwanda’s natural heritage.

The forest villas are designed with reference to traditional Rwandan royal architecture, their domed forms opening onto wide views of the volcanoes. Inside, you have generous living space, an en-suite bathroom and a sense of privacy shaped by the surrounding forest. Natural materials, simple décor, a fireplace and a thoughtful layout create a sense of comfort without distraction, allowing nature to remain the focus throughout your stay. Children aged 15 and above are welcome, in line with the trekking age requirement.
