Jao Camp

Jao Camp sits on a remote island in the heart of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, where channels, lagoons and floodplains redraw the map with the seasons. Set in a private concession east of Moremi Game Reserve, it’s a safari shaped by water and light. Arrive by boat when the Delta floods and slip through reed-lined waterways by mokoro. Return in the drier months and the same landscape transforms into open grasslands, where classic game drives take centre stage as wildlife gathers around the remaining water.

Each day follows the Delta's changing character. Head out on game drives across the floodplains, explore the waterways by boat or mokoro, or join your guide on foot to uncover the tracks, spoor and smaller details that often go unnoticed. Seasonal fishing adds another perspective, while optional scenic helicopter flights reveal the remarkable scale and patterns of the Delta from above. Back at camp, cool off in the pool overlooking the water, visit the spa or gym, browse the gallery, library and wine cellar, then gather beside the indoor or outdoor fireplaces as the evening settles in.

Raised above the floodplains, your spacious suite opens through full-height sliding doors onto uninterrupted Delta views. A contemporary mix of wood, steel and glass frames the open-plan bedroom, lounge, dressing area, kitchenette and dining space, while the en-suite bathroom includes a freestanding bath and indoor and outdoor showers. Outside, a private plunge pool and shaded daybed invite you to slow the pace between safaris. For families* or friends travelling together, the two-bedroom villas offer even greater privacy, complete with a shared living and dining area, private fire pit and plunge pool, as well as a dedicated guide, chef and butler who tailor each day entirely around you.
