The St James Seaforth

St James’s exclusive seaside hideout

Originally built in 1877 as a simple thatch residence, St James Seaforth has a long history. After a devastating house fire and several changes of ownership, Seaforth has been rebuilt and refurbished to become a seaside manor worthy of any celebrity. With its expansive ocean views and extremely limited capacity, this exclusive guesthouse is an absolute pleasure to check into.

Although a relatively small coastal village, St James nevertheless has a lot to offer. Its stretch of beach is nicely sheltered from Cape Town’s summertime winds and is very popular with locals and tourists alike. Whale-watching is a popular seasonal activity, with whales sometimes spotted metres away from the shore. The Simon’s Town train line is also nearby, affording easy access to it and other nearby seaside towns.

Accommodation consists of just 3 Suites, each individually decorated and named in honour of Seaforth’s previous owners. Every Suite features an en suite bathroom, air conditioning, under-floor heating, complimentary mini-bar and many other facilities. The guesthouse lounge features a cosy fireplace, while the sizeable swimming pool is a godsend when the ocean is too cold for comfort.

  • Prime location with a panoramic view of the ocean and minutes away from the beach
  • Individually decorated Suites with excellent amenities
  • Paintings showcasing the works of local artists are hung throughout the guesthouse
  • Because of the small number of Suites, Seaforth is often hired out for sole-use by families or groups of friends
