Little Kulala

Little Kulala sits within the Kulala Wilderness Reserve, where open desert, limestone outcrops and vast skies create a setting that feels both stark and deeply restorative. With an exclusive-use gate giving direct access to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, it offers one of the most convenient and comfortable ways to experience this part of the Namib. The lodge has a polished, contemporary feel, but the landscape remains the focus throughout, with every detail drawing your attention back to the dunes, the light and the immense stillness beyond.

There are plenty of ways to experience the desert here. You might set out early for the towering red dunes of Sossusvlei, walk or drive through the reserve in search of gemsbok, springbok, jackal and smaller desert life or explore the region by e-bike or low-impact quad bike. Sesriem Canyon brings a striking contrast, while the Namib shifts again after dark, with stargazing and guided walks revealing a different side of the desert. Hot-air ballooning is also available for a wider perspective. There is real depth to the setting too, shaped by decades of restoration across land once used for goat farming and now returned to a more natural state.

The suites, including a dedicated family unit for those travelling with children aged 6 and older, are designed to keep the desert in constant view. Clean, modern lines frame the landscape, while private plunge pools and rooftop terraces invite sundowners, open-air dinners or sleep-outs beneath an unfiltered sky. Shaded decks extend the living space outdoors, creating an easy indoor–outdoor flow. Throughout, the atmosphere feels spacious and private, with every element anchored to the surrounding desert rather than set apart from it.
