Surreal wonderland of Namibia

Namibia’s Erongo region is home to two of Namibia’s best loved towns - the holiday destination and beach resort of Swakopmund and the fishing community of Walvis Bay. The stunning Mount Erongo range is enclosed in the Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy offering an array of outdoor activities while the towns of Omaruru and Karibib are charming stop-overs when exploring this region.

The Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy is comprised of 30 adjoining private farms whose owners are committed to conserve and protect the 200 000ha of combined land, rich in endemic flora and fauna as well as ancient rock-paintings and engravings found in Paula’s Cave. The looming Vingerklip (Rock Finger) formation also found in the region has an eerie resemblance to the human extremity. Activities in the area include hikes, nature walks and drives.

The picturesque town of Omaruru has decided artistic flare, interesting history and home industries producing everything from distilled brandy to hand-made chocolates. Karibib is known as the home of Namibia’s only gold mine while the Spitzkoppe outcrop is a scenic hour drive away and popular with photographers and nature-lovers alike. The seaside towns of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund are lively holiday destinations with an array of accommodation options and activities to keep visitors entertained.
