Gillian Meyer

Gillian is Cape Town born and bred, and not exactly neutral on the subject. Give her half a chance and she’ll have you walking the Sea Point Promenade, ducking into a downtown gallery, browsing Oranjezicht Market and leaving a full day deliberately unplanned before you’ve even reached the safari part. After 25 years in travel, she knows Africa well, but the Mother City still gets top billing. Preferably with a glass of bubbly somewhere in the picture. Then there’s Gillian on safari. She claims expert-spotter status and can apparently distinguish “rock animal” from actual animal at impressive range, which feels like useful company to keep on a game drive. What she loves most, though, is that very first one: the moment you head into the bush and everything still feels possible. With her guests, Gillian would rather talk than guess. A quick call, a proper chat, a sense of who you are and how you envision your trip, then she starts building from there. She enjoys the dreaming, the shaping and the fine-tuning, each for its own reason. And yes, she’ll skip a game drive for a spa treatment, but only if there’s another drive waiting the next day. Priorities, apparently, can coexist.
