Londolozi Varty Camp is the original heart of Londolozi, a century of family history, conservation thinking and safari life still gathers around the campfire. Raised beneath an ancient riverine forest on the banks of the Sand River, the camp is built from dolerite stone and thatch, with brick paths, waterfalls and trailing vines woven through its layout. The feeling is relaxed and lived in, with the spirit of the original camp still intact: simple, grounded and closely connected to nature.
There is an easy family warmth to a stay at Varty Camp. Mornings and late afternoons are spent on expertly guided safaris through Londolozi’s wilderness, while the main deck becomes a natural gathering place between outings, with views across the river and bush beyond. Meals draw on Varty family recipes and Pan-African flavours, served in the dining area, around the boma fire or beneath open skies. Between safaris, you can visit the photographic studio, browse the boutique, work out in the gym or settle into a restorative treatment at the Healing House.
The pristine chalets at Varty Camp are designed with exclusivity and luxury in mind, with each opening onto its own deck where you can relax, dine outdoors and cool off in your private plunge pool. Outdoor showers and shaded seating areas invite you to spend more time in the open air, while the camp’s layout allows for both quiet seclusion and easy connection when travelling with family or friends.
