What to Expect
This Zambia safari pairs two national parks that bring you close to the wild in very different ways. Begin in Lower Zambezi National Park, where the escarpment stands tall behind the river and much of the safari happens on water. Paddle past hippos by canoe, and watch as elephants and riverbank wildlife wade between islands on game drives and boat trips. Then get ready to pull on your boots in South Luangwa National Park, famous as the birthplace of the walking safari.
On foot, with a guide and armed scout, you'll read the bush through fresh spoor, tracks and alarm calls. Spotlit night drives go looking for leopards, while by day you can expect thriving elephant herds, wallowing hippos, Crawshay’s zebras, and the distinctive Thornicroft’s giraffe, found only in this valley.
