The Fernery sits above a 30m waterfall – a striking curtain of water plunging down into the gorge below before gathering in the river to flow its carved path to the Indian Ocean. With its back against the rising slopes of the Tsitsikamma Mountains, the four-star lodge offers guests the opportunity to recline in comfort, surrounded by the untamed beauty of the landscape.
This is a leisure seeker’s paradise where guests can curl up with a good book in front of a cosy ceramic fireplace, relax in a bubbling Jacuzzi on the edge of the river gorge, recline in invigorating saunas, enjoy a quiet paddle in rowboats and walk along trails through the plantations. Take a treetop canopy tour of the Tsitsikamma forest or brave one of the world’s highest bungee jumps from the Bloukrans Bridge.
The lodge offers six en-suite Suites designed for stylish comfort, with the Honeymoon Suite’s spa bath big enough for two. The 10 Chalets are set amid a forest of fynbos overlooking the river. These country-style retreats range from B&B Chalets to self-catering units, all en-suite and complete with private decks.
