On the banks of the Marico River is Thakadu River Camp, sheltered under lush tree canopies and overlooking the flowing waterway. Set in the Madikwe Game Reserve – one of the few malaria-free reserves in Southern Africa – this camp offers access to diverse mix of fauna and flora to observe and capture on camera.
Exploring the reserve can be done in two ways: by vehicle or on foot. In both cases, expert rangers will accompany you through this natural paradise, imparting valuable knowledge and experience. Expect to see many marvellous creatures, such as lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, cheetah and the black and white rhino.
Accommodation at Thakadu River Camp consists of 12 Tented Suites, elegantly decorated in a fusion of African and Asian influences. Each features a private viewing deck, an indoor bath and shower, air conditioning, coffee-making facilities and plug points. Wandering around the lodge, you will find an inviting swimming pool and an even more inviting bar area overlooking the river.
