Stanley’s Camp, an A&K Sanctuary, puts the Okavango Delta straight in front of you. From beneath ebony and sausage trees, look out across floodplains where giraffe and elephant often wander past and herds of buffalo may gather. Lion, leopard and wild dog move through the wider concession, so your safari begins before you’ve even unpacked. Even the drive in from the airstrip brings you across this game-rich landscape, with every bend offering another reason to keep your camera close.

At first light, the concession might lead you towards lion tracks disappearing into the grass or elephants moving between the floodplains. Then, stay out after sunset in search of bushbabies, hyena and perhaps a leopard on the move.  When floodwaters rise, mokoro trips take you through seasonal channels past lilies, frogs and waterbirds, while scenic helicopter flights can be arranged additionally for a different perspective. Your guide remains with you throughout the stay, tailoring outings around what you’ve already seen and what still tops your list. Between adventures, cool off in the infinity pool with the floodplain still in view, browse the Bush Boutique for curios, then ease into the evening with sundowners and a three-course dinner.

Your tented suite pairs modern furnishings, canvas, linen, leather and timber with locally woven basket lights and original artwork, giving the interior an upmarket chic feel. Air conditioning takes the edge off warmer afternoons, while the en-suite bathroom includes a rain shower and double vanities. Stretch out on your private deck between drives, pour a drink from the minibar and reach for the binoculars when something moves across the plains.
