Singita Kwitonda Lodge borders Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, placing you close to one of Africa’s most moving wildlife experiences. This is mountain gorilla country, beneath the Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura volcanoes. The lodge has been designed with exceptional care for its setting, using volcanic rock, river stone, handmade tiles and clay bricks crafted by surrounding communities to create a stay that is deeply connected to Rwanda’s landscape and people.
Volcanoes National Park requires you to slow down and look closely. Gorilla trekking is the defining experience, with golden monkey trekking, forest walks, birdwatching, cycling, yoga and community visits giving you varied ways to explore the area. Back at the lodge, the Conservation Room, Akarabo Nursery and farm-to-table garden give you a richer understanding of Singita’s passion for treading lightly on the land. Children of all ages are welcome at the lodge, although Rwanda’s national park regulations allow gorilla trekking only from age 15, so younger guests can enjoy family-friendly lodge and local activities instead.
Suites are spacious and private with large timber-framed windows drawing in views of the volcanoes, meadows and high-altitude greenery. Each one-bedroom suite includes indoor and outdoor showers, an indoor bath, a covered veranda, dressing area, minibar, massage space, fireplaces and a heated plunge pool. Two-bedroom suites offer similar comforts with added shared living space, making them well suited to families or friends travelling together.
