&Beyond Phinda Vlei Lodge sits between rare sand forest and an open wetland in KwaZulu-Natal’s Phinda Private Game Reserve, with broad views across the vlei where antelope, elephant and birdlife often move through the grasslands. Morning and afternoon game drives take you through seven habitats in search of the Big 5, cheetah, suni and red duiker. Guided nature walks are also available, bringing tracks, plants and smaller wildlife into focus. To explore further, selected experiences can be arranged, including black rhino tracking, specialist walking and photographic safaris, conservation activities, community visits and Zulu cultural encounters. Phinda’s proximity to the coast also makes seasonal turtle nesting, beach outings, ocean safaris and reef diving an easy addition. Return to the lodge and settle into the library or book an in-room wellness treatment. Later, gather around the firepit with a drink and revisit the day’s sightings. 

Your suite faces the wilderness, with views from the bedroom, bathroom, sitting area and private deck. Warm timber, woven finishes and graphic patterns give the interiors a refined safari character, while air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a personal bar and coffee station add everyday ease. The sizeable bathroom includes a freestanding bath, double vanity, dressing area and indoor and outdoor showers. Outside, a shaded sala and private pool offer an inviting place to recharge with wildlife in view.
