Inside the sought-after Moremi Game Reserve, Okuti is one of the few camps here with year-round water at its doorstep – the Maunachira River. From camp, you look straight onto elephants wading across, hippos surfacing without warning and birdlife gathering along sandy banks. The ability to combine game drives within Moremi with motorboat and mokoro excursions from the same base makes Okuti unusually versatile.
Game drives explore some of the reserve’s terrain in specially designed safari vehicles, with lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo regularly encountered. Sightings here are known for their consistency, making it a firm choice for both first-time safari travellers and returning guests. Extend your time in the bush with half- or full-day safaris, picnic stops included, or head out onto the Delta’s waterways, including the Xakanaxa Lagoon, for an immersive water-level safari. During breeding season, herons and storks gather in impressive numbers, reinforcing Moremi’s reputation as one of the Okavango’s strongest birding areas.
Okuti’s “Masasas” – an ancient tribal word meaning “house of reeds” – are positioned to face the permanent channel and connected to the lodge’s main areas by raised wooden walkways. The twin and double units are generous in size, while family Masasas feature two bedrooms sharing a large bathroom, making the camp particularly well-suited to families with children aged six and older. Each unit includes both indoor and outdoor showers. The camp is wheelchair accessible throughout, welcomes self-drive guests (4WD required), and features a swimming pool. Recognised with five-star status by the Botswana Tourism Board and EcoTourism Certified, Okuti delivers direct access to the core of Moremi without compromising on comfort or flexibility.
