Kwandwe Uplands Homestead occupies a secluded western corner of Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, where manicured gardens open towards aloe-covered slopes and the Great Fish River valley. Built as a farmhouse in the early 1900s, this exclusive-use retreat carries its history with ease, while a private team keeps the stay relaxed and personal. Families and friends can settle in without sharing their space or safari plans with anyone else.
With your own guide, tracker and vehicle, you decide when to leave, what to follow and how long to remain at a sighting. Explore the reserve on game drives, leave the vehicle behind for an armed guided walk or arrange a fishing excursion. Photographic, birding and specialist walking safaris are also available by prior arrangement, while a volunteering experience offers a closer connection to Kwandwe’s conservation work. At the homestead, cool off in the swimming pool, book an in-room treatment or join your personal chef in the interactive kitchen as locally sourced ingredients are prepared. Breakfast around the kitchen table, lunch in the garden and evenings at the private boma keep meals connected to the house and the landscape beyond.
Each of the three en-suite bedrooms opens onto private verandas and pairs period character with modern comfort. Thoughtfully chosen antique furniture honours the farmhouse’s heritage, while air conditioning, fans and underfloor heating keep the space comfortable through changing seasons. Run a bath, rinse off beneath the indoor shower or settle into the plush bedding for a siesta. As the light fades across the gardens, pour a drink from the complimentary minibar, open the veranda doors and ease into the evening with the reserve stretching beyond.
