Ishasha Wilderness Camp

You could not wish for a much better backdrop than that on offer from Queen Elizabeth National Park with the Rwenzori Mountains to the north and the Virunga volcanoes to the south. Ishasha Wilderness Camp invites you to experience the wild in this extraordinarily beautiful place accompanied by quality services and facilities. 

The reserve is known for its volcanic cones and crater lakes while the lions around Ishasha are renowned for their tree-climbing antics. The nearly 100 species of mammal found here include the likes of Cape buffalo, elephant, Uganda kob, and topi which move in large numbers. There are also over 500 species of birds to keep twitchers happy.

The camp is tucked into the wooded bank of the Ntungwe River—the only camp for a 70km radius. 10 spacious Canvas Rooms have large mosquito-netted beds and en suite bathrooms with hot water bush showers and eco-friendly flushing toilets. Solar energy is used for lighting while power points for charging cameras are limited to a central area. Meals are enjoyed in the thatched dining are or on the shady riverbank while a lounge and bar round out facilities.
