Searching for a bit of peace and solitude? While there is a certain hustle and bustle to be found at Bartholomeus Klip Farmhouse, it’s of a different kind. Located on an operational farm in the 10,000ha Elandsberg Nature Reserve, guests can spend their nights in a restored Victorian homestead and their days exploring all that the surrounding area has to offer.
Try your hand at spotting some of the game that roam across the reserve during twice-daily game drives; take to the water on the farm’s dam with a canoe or windsurfing board, and perhaps test your aim with archery – a new favourite on the farm. The towns of Riebeek-Kasteel, Tulbagh and Wellington are within easy driving distance, as well as a fair number of wine farms.
Guests can choose to stay in one of the homestead’s four Double Rooms complete with en-suite bathrooms, or the self-catering Wild Olive House – perfect for families and friends. The entire farmhouse may also be rented out for bigger parties on request. A wide selection of gourmet and farm-fresh meals are prepared by the on-site chef, Louise.
