Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp is located about 20km north of Seronera in the Central part of the Serengeti. The tented camp was recently refurbished and finds itself surrounded by monolithic rock formations, known locally as ‘Kopjes’, and nestled in secluded acacia woodlands, interspersed with the typical Serengeti Plains.
The central lounge features a cocktail bar, stocked with a discerning selection of beers, wines and spirits; and the stylish boutique showcases a tempting array of gifts, safari accessories, Tanzanian Safari Books and Masai Cultural Crafts. The dining tent has its own shaded terrace for optional outdoor dining while the food blends the traditional camp fire of flame roasted meats with salads, fresh garden produce, fish dishes and delicious deserts.
At Mbuzi Mawe you will find a total of 16 spacious tents, each with 24 hour electricity ( quite a luxury in the Serengeti) , constant hot water, en-suite bathroom, dressing area, two double four poster beds and a veranda with a double sun bed. Realistically Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp might lack a little bit of the style and glamour of other authentic tented camps in the Serengeti, but for guests looking for a tented camp experience with creature comforts this is a great choice!
Unlike any other camp, Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp lies at the epicentre of the Serengeti within easy reach of the prime wildlife areas of Lobo, the Western Corridor of the Grumeti River, the southern grass plains, the Seronera Valley and the kopjes or Barafu, Gol, Maasai, Loliondo, Simba and Moru. Take a ringside seat at one of "The Greatest Shows on Earth" as over one million Wildebeest and Zebra and their accompanying predators travel through the Serengeti on their Annual Migration, in search of lush grass.
