A classic tented safari at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp offers superb Big 5 sightings and a special conservation focus. Set against the backdrop of Mount Kenya, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy is especially well known for its black and white rhino population. It is the only place in the world where you can see the last two northern white rhinos. From camp, it’s common to spot elephants along the river, while safari drives reveal the varied habitats of savannah, acacia thickets, marshlands and fever tree groves.
Alongside fantastic wildlife sightings, you can partake in canine anti-poaching training or contribute to research by recording lion sightings. The conservancy is home to the Big 5 and over 300 bird species, with the presence of hyenas, baboons and other rare species adding to the variety of animal encounters. After you return from the bush, spend your evening unwinding to the unique sounds of the bush, wine glass in hand, as you and your loved ones gather around the fire pit.
The spacious canvas tents, two of which are designed for families, each have an en-suite bathroom and hot running water. The camp’s shared areas include a relaxed lounge, dining deck, outdoor bar and a fireplace for evenings in camp. The delicious homemade cuisine can also be enjoyed outdoors, with bush breakfasts and sundowners in the wilderness. The camp runs on 100% solar power, offers Wi-Fi and includes complimentary laundry service. Ol Pejeta Bush Camp welcomes families with children aged five and above – there are fun, educational child-friendly activities available.
