Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is tucked into the hills above Lake Kariba – one of the largest reservoirs in the world – where still mornings, distant birdsong and open skies set the pace. Wake up to views that stretch for miles and fall asleep to the quiet sounds of the bush. Set within a private wildlife conservancy in northern Zimbabwe, the lodge offers a slower, more personal kind of safari – one where you'll find herds of elephants marching along the shoreline.
Thanks to its location above Lake Kariba, touching the northeastern border of Matusadona National Park, you can look forward to an exceptional safari adventure. Together with a local guide, you explore the area on both land and water. Go on game drives, take a boat cruise at sunset, try catch-and-release fishing or join a guided walk through the bush. Lake Kariba is alive with hippos, buffalo, crocodiles and birds, while the surrounding bushveld is home to elephants, lions and leopards. The luxurious Lady Jacqueline boat offers both day and overnight lake adventures with ensuite cabins, a plunge pool as well as a top-deck viewing area. Bumi Hills Safari Lodge's child-friendly Ngwana Club caters to younger guests with fun, nature-focused experiences.
The lodge itself is designed to feel open and welcoming, with wooden finishes, natural textures and spaces that invite you to look out over the lake. There's an infinity pool, a spa and a gym, plus an outdoor dining area under canvas. Each suite has air conditioning, a private deck as well as both indoor and outdoor showers. Families or groups should opt for the Baobab Villa, which features two bedrooms, a private guide and butler and your own safari vehicle. Children of all ages are welcome, although walking safaris are limited to guests aged 16 and over.
