Room décor varies as does the size and view; pick of the bunch are the garden suites – a recent annexure with a modern touch. The main house rooms have hints of floral and Victorian themes but have been spared an overdose. Bathrooms are luxurious marble and glass affairs and Knysna yellowwood adds true period charm throughout the house.
Dinner is a three or five course menu with a couple of choices along the way; start with pre-dinner drinks in the smoking lounge or the comfy couches in the library – you’ll be required to converse with the earnest staff in attendance but feel free to raise the tempo as you see fit. The bar opens onto a terrace with a plummeting view over the lagoon and out to the landmark heads with the wild sea beyond; the pool is surrounded by manicured garden and thick Knysna forest – perfect for a peaceful nap.

Falcon's View Manor: understated elegance

As you approach Falcon’s View from the steep driveway it looks like a modest guest house in the suburban heights of Knysna with a suitably lush garden. Even your second impression may be a little reserved as you enter the house but after you’ve dumped your coat in your softly furnished room, peaked at the view and stolen a glance at the luxurious bathroom, you’ll be thinking, ‘This is quite nice.’ Go downstairs and read the evening’s gourmet menu over a welcome drink and you’ll be revising your impression pretty sharp – Falcon’s View is definitely not just another Guest House with Victorian Charm and Modern Amenities.
