One of Africa’s best-kept secrets and one of Zimbabwe’s most luxurious lodges, Singita Pamushana Lodge lies within the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve, on a whopping 130 000 acres of wilderness in the south east of Zimbabwe.
Nestling beneath the trees, the lodge creates a magical ambience, maximising views of the pool, gardens and lake below. There are a range of private luxury suites for individuals, couples and families and a five-bedroom villa. The Malilangwe is abuzz with Africa's birds and wildlife, including endangered species like roan and sable antelopes and black rhino. Famous for its mopane forests and baobab trees, Malilangwe is an area where you will also find over 100 San rock art sites that date back more than 2000 years.
More than just a lodge, Singita Pamushana is all the more special because of its role in eco-tourism in the area. Over a decade ago, the not-for-profit Malilangwe Trust was established to protect, and manage the extraordinary wilderness next to the Gonarezhou National Park in this part of Zimbabwe. Singita Pamushana Lodge fulfils the tourism role, while helping to improve the sustainability of the environment here and attracting guests to experience the magic, while contributing financially to the reserve and its continued conservation as a result.
There are many ways to immerse yourself in the beauty of this African wilderness while on safari here. Go on daily game drives with professional guides and trackers and spot-lit nighttime drives where nocturnal Africa comes alive, or on guided safari walks through the wilderness.
What can you expect to see? A plethora of wildlife - white and black rhino, sable, nyala, klipspringer, cheetah, wild dog, lion, leopard and a medley of tweeting birdlife to spark the excitement of the twitcher in you.
Go stargazing, fishing, on a community tour or mountain biking (bikes and helmets provided). Take a dip in the pool or head out on a sunset cruise while the wildlife come to join you for sundowners. Be pampered at the Spa or work out in the fully-equipped gym (although nature surely holds the greater allure here?). When it comes to the wining and dining experience you can expect only the finest.
What our clients thought
“Location and accommodation was just superb. Food was just so good! Game drives were just great and our guide was so keen to share his knowledge about even the stars as night fall came when we were on game drives. The second night we went to the river, took a boat and had a ‘close encounter’ with a rhino... That added some adrenalin to the experience. The service was warm and welcoming. The manager and all of the staff were so wonderful. There is a sincerity about the nature of the people there that touched our hearts!” - Marg and Dick Guit
