&Beyond Ngala Tented Camp sits between riverine forest and the sandy Timbavati riverbed in Ngala Private Game Reserve, within Kruger National Park. The camp has a hushed, romantic atmosphere, where canvas, lantern light and riverbed views bring the wilderness close. Ngala means “lion” in Shangaan, reflecting an area well-known for its strong lion prides, as well as the rare possibility of white lions, alongside the other members of the Big 5 and wild dogs.

Time in the wild here is accompanied by the sense of space and exclusivity unique to a private concession. Explore the flora and fauna on twice-daily game drives in open vehicles, with off-road driving possible when conditions allow, bringing you closer to sightings as and when they occur. Guided nature walks, conservation talks and Wild Impact community visits add more context, while private specialist safaris, the Ngala Treehouse, Shangaan village visits, scenic helicopter flights and rhino conservation experiences can be booked additionally. Back at camp, the shared lounge, central bar, outdoor deck, rim-flow pool, souvenir shop, gym and spa make the riverbed part of every pause.

Each tented suite is raised on a platform and tucked into the shade of riverine trees. Inside, earthy tones and warm textures create a calm, cosy space, with air-conditioning, a personal bar and coffee station adding refined comfort. Step outside onto your private deck to watch the light shift across the sand, unwind in the shaded sala or soak in the outdoor bathtub as the sounds of the bush settle around you. With indoor-outdoor showers and open-air spaces drawing the landscape in, each suite is a private canvas retreat shaped by the trees and the theatre of the bush.
