Eco-friendly living on Etosha’s doorstep

Andersson’s Camp takes its name from the Swedish explorer – Charles Andersson – who first stumbled upon the shimmering green and white Etosha Pan. Set in the Ongava Private Game Reserve, the family-orientated camp overlooks a waterhole frequented by plenty of thirsty wildlife, from lumbering rhino and elephant, to the diminutive Damara dik-dik.

Combined with the wildlife of the bordering Etosha National Park – Namibia’s premier wildlife destination – Ongava will have guests spoiled for choice of free-roaming game. Ramble along in your safari vehicle, keeping the binoculars in hand for sights of plains game, predators, and a profusion of birdlife. Guided bushwalks will take you closer to the unusual flora and arid-adapted fauna.

The former farmstead’s 20 Tents radiate outwards into the secluded mopane woodlands. The canvas, wood, and stone cladding structures are constructed on elevated wooden platforms and feature double-doors leading out on to small verandahs. Solar power heats the water for the semi open-air en-suite bathrooms, combining comfort with eco-friendly living. The old farmhouse forms the main area and contains the dining area, lounge, bar, and swimming pool.
