Chumbe Island Coral Park is an award-winning private nature reserve developed for the conservation of the uninhabited Chumbe Island, one of the last pristine coral islands in the region, off Zanzibar.
Accommodation on the island is the epitome of barefoot luxury - very Robinson Crusoe. The seven bungalows have a certain romance to them that makes them ideal for honeymooners, but any individual with a passion for nature's beauty will be captivated. All bungalows overlook the sea and have hammocks for you to lie in and enjoy the views. Just a 30 second stroll away is the warm tropical ocean. All bungalows are equipped with double or twin beds under the palm thatched roof, as well as self-contained bathrooms and large living rooms with handmade furniture, African art and colourful fabrics.
The park has a fully protected coral reef sanctuary and forest reserve with rare and endangered animals, a Visitor and Education centre, nature trails and historical ruins. All buildings and operations are based on state-of-the-art eco-technology aiming at zero environmental impact. There's plenty to get up to here, from snorkelling through the unique Reef Sanctuary to exploring the nature reserve with a ranger and visiting the historical monuments on the island.
While dining, you will have views of the sea between Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania. The chefs provide mouth-watering dishes with Zanzibarian, Arabic, Indian and African tastes to satisfy both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
