&Beyond Phinda Rock Lodge is carved into a cliffside in KwaZulu-Natal’s Phinda Private Game Reserve, with wide views across the valley below. Its elevated position gives the lodge a strong sense of seclusion, while open terraces and guest areas draw the landscape into every part of the stay. The result is romantic, secluded and shaped by the wild setting around it.

Phinda offers almost 30,000 hectares of private traversing across seven distinct habitats, bringing variety to every game drive. Twice-daily outings explore Big 5 country with expert guides and trackers, while limited vehicles at sightings and permitted off-roading can allow for closer encounters. The reserve is especially rewarding for cheetah and black rhino, and its rare sand forest shelters smaller species such as suni and red duiker. Nature walks are also included subject to availability, with specialist walking safaris, black rhino tracking, birding, photographic safaris, conservation experiences, Zulu village visits, sleepouts and nearby ocean adventures available to book additionally. Bush banquets, rooftop dinners, private dining and the option of in-room spa treatments add further luxury and care to the quieter hours between safaris.

Each of the six suites is designed to make the most of its cliffside position, with wooden shutters and doors opening onto a private veranda, daybed and plunge pool overlooking the valley. Contoured walls and organic finishes give the interiors a warm, earthy character, while a personal bar, coffee station, air-conditioning, bath and indoor shower provide comfort throughout the stay. Four suites also feature outdoor showers, offering an open-air view across the landscape before you retreat to the privacy of your suite.
