Mana River Camp sits on the banks of the Zambezi River in Mana Pools National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site prized for its floodplains, river frontage and strong wildlife viewing. Riverine forest provides shade and a sense of seclusion, while a nearby water pan keeps the day’s movement close – often with elephants drifting in to drink.
Your days revolve around classic Mana Pools safari experiences, led by guides who know the landscape intimately. Game drives range across the floodplains in search of elephant, buffalo and predators, while walking safaris slow the pace and bring you closer to the smaller details – tracks, textures, and stories etched in the sand. Canoeing adds a water-level perspective, gliding past reed beds with excellent birdlife and wildlife along the banks. Back at camp, you can settle in with a camera at the pan, watch the river’s steady pull, or simply enjoy the pace of the wilderness around you. The camp is temporary and dismantled at the end of each season to keep its footprint light while maintaining a traditional safari approach.
Classic canvas safari tents along the riverbank accommodate you, boasting serene views over the Zambezi. The camp welcomes children ages 6 and up, however, younger children are accomodated if you book exclusive use. Each tent provides a comfortable retreat after time outdoors, with thoughtful furnishings, en-suite facilities and private outdoor space where you can sit and watch the wild. The design prioritises connection with the surrounding environment while still offering practical comforts for your stay. Natural light, canvas walls and the sounds of the bush close at hand ensure that the experience is wonderfully immersive.
