Centrally situated in the Zululand village of St Lucia, the only known village whose streets are roamed by hippos at night, Lidiko Lodge offers guests four-star comfort in a stunning area. Surrounded by the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park (now known as iSimangaliso Wetland park), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the natural wonders never end.
The park is South Africa’s oldest natural World Heritage Site and considered the third-largest park in the country, incorporating several smaller reserves and a variety of ecosystems. Highlights include an array of birdlife and calving humpback whales close to shore between June and November, a time when loggerhead and leatherback turtles also arrive to lay their eggs at what is the last significant breeding site for these species. Visitors can choose from an range of activities through which to experience it all.
