Situated in the northern Serengeti, Nyasi Tented Camp stands in Tanzania’s Lamai Wedge, where acacia-dotted plains meet the Mara River. During the Great Migration crossing season, vast herds gather near the water before making their way towards Kenya’s Maasai Mara, often drawing lion, crocodile and a whole host of other predators into the action. The camp’s remote position gives you strong access to this migration route without losing the sense of seclusion that defines a well-placed tented safari.
Your private guide and vehicle remove the need for fixed schedules, so you can leave early, linger over a sighting or follow the herds as they move. Game drives range from the Mara River’s banks to open plains where lion, cheetah and grazing wildlife may appear. Stop for a bush breakfast, settle beneath an acacia for lunch, or raise a sundowner as the light changes across the savannah. For a completely different view, an optional hot-air balloon flight can be arranged, taking your adventure skywards, lifting off at sunrise to drift above the Serengeti as wildlife moves across the plains far below.
Canvas rooms draw on explorer-style safari traditions, with natural tones, layered textiles and bespoke furnishings inspired by the Serengeti. Choose a king or twin bed, wake beneath mosquito netting and rinse off beneath a hot rainfall shower after an exhilarating game drive. En-suite bathrooms include twin vanities, while Wi-Fi and an in-room safe cover the practical details. The family suite gives parents and children room to stay together, and a cosy lounge and al fresco dining areas make it easy to settle in between safari adventures.
