In the shadow of Sossusvlei's dunes

The mighty Tsauchab River rises in the Naukluft and Tsaris Mountains and meanders through the Sesriem Canyon, stretching across the Namib Desert but never reaching the ocean because of Sossusvlei’s red sand dunes that block its path. It is along these banks, a mere 20 minutes outside the clay-panned Sossusvlei, that Hoodia Desert Lodge resides.

Climb Sossusvlei’s towering dunes and gaze down at dry lakes – that only come to life every decade or so – while enjoying a light lunch complemented by fine wines. Climb the Naukluft Mountains, or embark on a sundowner drive. For a bird’s-eye view of the vast Namib Desert, guests can set off on a hot air balloon safari or a helicopter flight.

11 Luxury Chalets are scattered widely across the lodge and provide privacy and comfort. Each chalet boasts its own private shaded deck and open-air shower. Lounge next to the pool with a cocktail served from the lodge’s bar in summer while roaring fireplaces in the main lounge and restaurant are sure to keep the cold at bay in winter.
