A nemophiliac’s (that’s ‘forest-lover’ in laymen’s terms) and thrill-seeker’s delight await visitors to the Crags. Nestled in the centre of the Garden Route, this hideout is mere minutes from the popular seaside town of Plettenberg Bay on one side and Nature’s Valley on the other. The area is renowned for its forested valleys, rocky outcrops, and cliff faces – a perfect hideaway from the bustle of the nearby coastal towns.
Although Plettenberg Bay and all its attractions are a short drive away, the Crags is not without its own drawcards. The free-flying aviary of Birds of Eden and its feathered inhabitants lie adjacent to Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, where visitors can observe primates and their antics. Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a number of big-cat species while other animal-focused highlights include Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre and the Elephant Sanctuary.
Adrenaline junkies can take a leap off of Bloukrans Bridge and cross the highest Bungee Jumping in the world off their bucket list. Or why not abseil, kloof, and canyon your way across the many rock-faces in the Crags? Still not intrigued? Perhaps a Tsitsikamma canopy tour, zip-lining between trees might pique your interest. Otherwise, guests can wind down at top-notch restaurants such as Bramon Wine Estate and Enrico’s on the beach.
