Etosha Mountain Lodge sits within Etosha Heights Private Reserve on the south-western edge of Etosha National Park, with wide views across a landscape that feels open, rugged and full of movement. This is a classic Namibian safari lodge with a long-established feel, well suited to travellers who want strong wildlife viewing without the busier atmosphere often found inside the national park.
Safari here is focused on the reserve’s rich wildlife, with morning and afternoon game drives, guided walks, night drives and time in the double-storey photography hide all adding different angles to the experience. Black and white rhino are a particular draw, while elephant, lion, cheetah, leopard, kudu, springbok and a wide variety of birdlife all contribute to the sense that there is always something to look out for. Back at camp, the pool, central lapa and waterhole views make it easy to stay engaged with the landscape between activities.
The accommodation keeps things classic and comfortable, with chalet-style rooms positioned to make the most of the wide views and sense of privacy. Interiors are spacious and practical, with en-suite bathrooms, indoor showers, large bathtubs, air conditioning, ceiling fans and tea and coffee stations. Children of all ages are welcome, and the family chalet offers more space and a private plunge pool on the verandah. At the heart of the lodge, the thatched lapa brings together the restaurant, bar, wine cellar and lounge areas, all opening onto the landscape beyond.
