Lake Manyara Destinations

Excitement at the shores of Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara provides water for its annual influx of migratory residents moving between the Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro highlands, and the Serengeti National Park via the Kwakuchinja Wildlife Corridor. Animals that are commonly found around Lake Manyara are elephants, wildebeest, warthogs, and buffalo. Keep an eye on the sky and the surrounding trees as the lake has an exceptional number of migratory birds, including the grey-headed kingfisher, long-crested eagle, and flamingos.

The neighbouring Manyara Ranch, home to the 14,000-hecatre Manyara Ranch Conservancy, is also an excellent spot for observing migrating wildlife. Only 90 minutes from the city of Arusha and its convenient location near to the setting of the Great Migration in Serengeti National Park make Lake Manyara an interesting add-on to your itinerary when exploring northern Tanzania.
