Overlooking the Sand River, MalaMala Sable Camp is as refined as its elegant namesake. A smaller version of the Main Camp, MalaMala Sable Camp offers a more private and intimate experience.
MalaMala is a 13,500-hectare concession in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which is a privately-owned extension of the Kruger National Park. Sable Camp is the smallest of the three lodges in the enormous MalaMala concession. Peeking through thickets of riverine forest, the thatched suites provide every conceivable luxury. The décor is a lavish Afro-colonial chic.
Sable Camp looks out over the perennial Sand River taking every opportunity to soak up the view, the night sky and the African bush: rustic decks, a boma for fireside al fresco dining plus the rooms themselves have large bush-facing verandahs. The main lodge is packed with African artworks and colonial relics creating a warm, relaxed and thoroughly inviting atmosphere.
With 20km of river frontage and a vast expanse of uninhabited wilderness, the wildlife and nature experiences at Mala Mala are some of the world’s most spectacular. Wildlife activities include daily game drives, bush walks, night drives and stargazing.
