Okaukuejo Camp

Found 17km from Andersson’s Gate in the southern part of Etosha National Park, Okaukuejo Camp is the oldest tourist camp in Etosha and functions as both the administrative centre of the park and a home to the Etosha Ecological Institute.  

This camp is the main area of tourist activity inside Etosha and its popularity stems from its proximity to a large, permanent waterhole which is also floodlit at night. Here wildlife congregates and interacts throughout the day and into the night, affording excellent game viewing and even better photographic opportunities. You can either self-drive through Etosha or take a guided morning, afternoon or night safari from the camp to explore and discover all the area has to showcase.

There are a variety of accommodation options on offer at Okaukuejo Camp, from double rooms to Premier Waterhole Chalets. All have air-conditioning, mosquito nets, en-suite bathrooms, tea/coffee stations and fridges. Premier Waterhole and Waterhole Chalets are the favourite choice, given their proximity to the waterhole. Other facilities on site include two swimming pools, a bar, kiosk, tourist shop and restaurant offering either a la carte or buffet style meals.
