Watch elephant migrate across land and water

Mudumu National Park is in the north-eastern Caprivi region of Namibia stretching across 73 700ha of land and sharing its western boundary with the Kwando River, which proffers up tranquil lagoons, narrow channels and riverine forests abundant in birdlife and marine life. The rest of Mudumu is dominated by dense savannah and mopane woodlands that are part of an important migration route between Botswana and Angola.

The parks weaving waterways are inundated with hippos, otters, crocodiles and turtles while its banks are dotted with numerous antelope species stalked by the ever optimistic lion, hyena, leopard and wild dog population. While enjoying a game-drive through the park, be on the lookout for elephant, roan and sable herds that grow shy and hide behind the mopane trees. Over 430 species of bird call Mudumu home while the park at large is an essential link for migration in the Kavango–Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area.

The park is home to two privately-owned lodges that offer bird-watching and game-viewing safaris as well as nature walks.
