Chundukwa River Lodge

Vic Falls, elephants, and a quiet nook on the Zambezi

The Zambezi’s swift-moving waters lap at the wooden stilts holding up Chundukwa River Lodge’s Chalets. Found on the 300-acre Chundu Farm only 25km upstream from Victoria Falls, guests can enjoy panoramic views of the river and the lodge’s serene location while being only half an hour from all the exciting attractions in this quiet nook of Zambia.

The Zambezi not only feeds the largest waterfall on earth, but it also hides the mighty tigerfish and an impressive array of bird species that flock to the lush bushes and overhanging trees along its banks. This area provides endless entertainment for families, daredevils, and outdoor enthusiasts from game drives and white water rafting, to microlight flights and horse trails.

The lodge’s 5 Chalets and 1 Cottage tell tales of rustic comfort and utter seclusion. Up to 100 different bird species have been spotted in one day on the farm, best viewed from your verandah over morning coffee and tea. River cruises and fishing trips are popular pastimes while evenings around the campfire will see guests being served home-cooked meals and serenaded by the calls of waking lion and black-backed jackal.

  • Each of the 5 Chalets and 1 Cottage boast sweeping views of the Zambezi
  • Only 25km upstream from Victoria Falls—within easy driving distance of attractions in the area
  • The Family Cottage sleeps 6 people and boasts a private plunge pool, personal cook, waiter, and housekeeper
  • Elephants frequent the farm in the dry months between May and November
  • The farm’s horse stable is nearby
