Sanctuary Chichele Presidential Lodge was built in 1972 and used to function exclusively as a private presidential retreat. As such, it really is something special with an emphasis on class and elegance. Its setting is simply stunning, picturesquely perched atop a hill with wonderful vistas of the fertile Luangwa River and a collection of teeming wildlife roaming the banks.
Accommodation consists of 10 elegant Victorian suites which all come with air conditioning and a well-appointed bathroom with both a shower and a bath. Each suite is nestled on the hillside and has a private verandah which provides panoramic views over the floodplains below. And each comes with a mini-bar, mosquito nets and hair dryer. There is a sparkling swimming pool, an indoor dining room and outdoor boma so you can wine and dine under the stars. And there are conference facilities, if you have to work, and a well stocked curio shop.
You may not be in charge of Zambia, but you will certainly feel like it at Sanctuary Chichele Lodge! The service is top-class and your every need will be catered for. The suites are luxurious and each has a private verandah with wonderful views. The game viewing is great and the Luangwa River is often frequented by wildlife. In addition, you can go on morning and afternoon game drives in the South Luangwa National Park, one of Africa's greatest game reserves. Your chances of spotting elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo are good. And you can experience a walking safari through the bush, giving you the chance to see, smell, hear and feel Africa like never before.
