Day 1: Airport Guest House, Entebbe
Start your trip hidden in a garden flush with indigenous foliage but mere minutes from the airport. Entebbe is home to numerous attractions from the shimmering shores of Lake Victoria to the Ngamba and Sesse islands. Don’t miss out on traditional cuisine at Mama Africa restaurant or a beer at the bar.
Day 2-5: Mutanda Lake Resort, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Catch a light aircraft flight to Kisoro Airstrip, where you’ll be met by your professional walking guide and transferred to Lake Mutanda. Traditional dugout canoes will be waiting for you to cross Lake Mutanda to the Northern Shore.
You will arrive at the Mutanda Lake Resort in time for lunch. In the afternoon – one can spend time on the terrace, jutting out onto the incredibly scenic landscape of Lake Mutanda with the volcanoes in the background. The next day, you will visit Mgahinga National Park to see the golden monkeys. This rare species is endangered and lives in the bamboo vegetation towards the base of the volcanoes. In the afternoon, you can go on a three to four hour walking and canoe excursion.
The next day is the main attraction, visiting the gorillas. Gorilla tracking is a captivating and unforgettable experience which more than repays the effort needed to reach Bwindi and to trek through the forest. Looking deep into the expressive brown eyes of the gentle giants of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is one of Africa’s most exciting and poignant wildlife encounters.
Day 5: Entebbe
After an early breakfast, you will catch your light aircraft flight to Entebbe and catch your flight home.
