Garden Route Extravaganza Special

Whale Route, Garden Route & everything in between

Explore the country’s Garden of Eden with Cape Town as a starting point, a stopover along the Whale Route, and a meander through the lush forests of the Garden Route before reaching its Big 5 game reserves on the other end. With an endless coastline adjacent to rolling mountain ranges dotted with forested valleys punctuated by rivers and charming towns, the Garden Route is a must for all South African visitors. See below for a full list of what this special includes.

Day 1 - 3: The Andros Boutique Hotel, Cape Town

Prepare to be whisked to the magical retreat that is The Andros Boutique Hotel and your Deluxe Room, where grandeur and convenience seamlessly collide in an English manor setting.

Built in 1908, the hotel boasts 5 star luxury comforts - magnificent gardens, gorgeous interiors, and top-notch food, wine, and service - while remaining within easy distance of Cape Town’s most popular attractions. All rooms are reminiscent of a grand English manor and have air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, underfloor heating, TVs, minibars, Wi-Fi, tea/coffee facilities, and safes.

Famous for being one of the most beautiful cities in the world, there is an endless list of activities and attractions to keep you busy in Cape Town. Visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for a picnic, go wine-tasting in Constantia, visit the picturesque beach and busy bars of Camps Bay, discover the beauty of Table Mountain, or make your way to the V&A Waterfront and its plethora of shops and top restaurants.

Bed & Breakfast

Day 4 - 5: Mosaic Lagoon Lodge, Hermanus

At Mosaic Lagoon Lodge you’ll find yourself close enough to dip your toes into the Hermanus Lagoon, laze about under a tree on the lawn and inhale the fresh air rolling in over the surrounding mountains.

The ultimate five-star getaway awaits at one of Mosaic’s suites with each stone and glass-walled lodge leading onto private decks that greet distant mountains. Guests can observe the close of day before retreating to their king-sized bed, cosy fireplace, and en-suite bathroom (and large tub for endless bubble baths).

Guests can whale-spot at one of the best whale-watching areas in the world or shark-cage dive a few kilometres off the coast. A secluded beach in Walker Bay, accessible only by 4X4, promises privacy while quad-biking tours between the dunes can form part of your day. Mountain bikes and kayaks are available for hire.

Fully inclusive with local beverages

Day 6 - 7: The Turbine Hotel, Knysna

You will be transferred from Mosaic Lagoon Lodge to The Turbine Hotel & Spa, a unique 5-star boutique hotel found on the water-locked Thesen Island in the estuary-bound town of Knysna. What makes it so unique is that it used to be Knysna’s wood-fired turbine power station. Lovingly restored, The Turbine Hotel now has a certain modern, industrial mystique, as most of its primary components were left intact and form an integral part of the hotel’s theme.

Your Standard Room will be home for the next two nights, and includes its own individual decor and art, flat screen TV, DVD player with full DVD library, internet facilities, bathrooms with separate bath and shower, fully stocked mini-bar with fridge and a tea/coffee station.

Indulge in the delicious cuisine at Tapas Bar, Island Café or Pool Deck. Lounge in the inside courtyard, immerse yourself in a book from the library, browse the wine cellar, or cool down in the rim flow pool. Don’t miss out on a treatment at the Amani Spa and visit the concierge for any assistance you need planning your daily activities.

Bed & Breakfast

Day 8 - 9: Kichaka Private Game Lodge, Grahamstown

Situated on a small hill, with only the apexes of the thatched roofs visible among the trees, Kichaka Lodge looks out over a hippo dam in the Kichaka Private Game Reserve in South Africa's temperate Eastern Cape. This lodge is the perfect fusion of intimate accommodation and an authentic and personalised safari experience.

The reserve is teeming with the likes of rhino, cheetah, lion, elephant, and buffalo - which can be seen on daily game drives and bush walks. The Eastern Cape is quickly becoming popular for malaria-free big-game safaris. The temperate climate and gently undulating hills lend themselves to game-viewing – fewer trees, no malaria, and better vantage points.

10 Suites dot the hillside and are appointed with luxury and amenities: full ensuite bathroom, private deck, under-floor heating, air conditioning, heated plunge pool, lounge, mini-bar, internet access, and 24-hour room service. If that all sounds too far-removed from the virgin bush that rolls around outside, fear not for the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors open directly onto the deck and the bush.
