Botswana Secret Season Special

Floodplains to forest in bountiful Botswana

Discover the wonder of Botswana's Okavango Delta in the quiet season with this 7-day special taking guests on a whirlwind adventure. With diverse and enthralling landscapes dotted by untamed and enchanting wildlife, this land truly captivates. Starting on the edge of the the meandering waterways of Chobe’s north-western corner, a stay at Camp Linyati revitalises the senses. Next up is the dappled shade found in the mopane woodlands around Khwai Tented Camp, which will certainly put you at peace. This voyage will ignite a true passion for Africa.

Day 1-4: Linyanti Bush Camp, Botswana

Solitude is the name of the game at Linyanti Bush Camp. Only 6 luxury tents ensure complete privacy, while its position in the private Chobe Enclave in the Linyanti Swamps guarantees utter seclusion. Yet, as the only source of water in the area through much of the year, the Linyanti Swamps are also one of the most sought-after destinations in Northern Botswana.

Set on the banks of the Linyanti Swamps, the camp is in the heart of a region renowned for its dense wildlife, most spectacularly its large herds of elephants, as well as sable, roan, and sitatunga antelope; hippo, crocodile, leopard, and the endangered wild dog. Small, exclusive groups set out on game drives and walking safaris through the dry areas, while mokoro trips are ideal for traversing the wet swamps.

The tents are built Meru style and are supported by wooden frames on concrete bases. Each tent comes complete with canvas flaps, mesh windows, bed with mosquito net, and a sandy porch overlooking the Linyanti Swamps. The tented main area incorporates a dining room, lounge, bar, and meeting point.

Accommodation is in a Luxury Tent and fully inclusive with local beverages

Day 4-7: Khwai Tented Camp, Botswana

Hidden between mopane woodlands, open grassland, and gently flowing waterways, Khwai Tented Camp’s location in a community-run concession in the Moremi Game Reserve gives it a distinct advantage over lodgings outside the concession. Enjoy night drives and walking safaris, which are not permitted in the main reserve or national park but promise better chances to sight elusive Okavango Delta inhabitants.

The concession attracts vast amounts of wildlife thanks to its lagoon which feeds into the Khwai River. Although this tract of land is quite small by national park standards, it is incredibly diverse. Open savannahs morph into dense mopane woodlands hiding wild dog and leopard, while the waterways attract all manner of wildlife, including nearly 500 species of bird.

Khwai Tented Camp’s lodgings are temporary and thus ensure minimal environmental impact on the land. Each tent has an en suite bathroom and rests on the banks of a lagoon. All proceeds from the camp go to the local community and focus on upliftment of local inhabitants. Spend your days on game drives, boat safaris, and guided walks, and your evenings around the campfire after a night-time drive through the concession.

Fully inclusive with local beverages
