The Dhow Palace is set in the heart of the historic and atmospheric Stone Town. It is similar to its sister hotel, Tembo House Hotel, though we believe the Dhow Palace has more to offer. The hotel harkens back to a bygone era with its balconies and indoor courtyard with a fountain.
Accommodation consists of 16 self-contained and spacious rooms all with well-appointed bathrooms. You can sleep in ultimate luxury on traditional Sultan-size four-poster beds and Zanzibari artefacts and ornaments abound. All rooms have large balconies overlooking the pleasant central courtyard and there is a great rooftop restaurant which offers top-class cuisine and panoramic views of Stone Town and the Indian Ocean.
NB: At both Tembo House Hotel and the Dhow Palace, no alcohol is served as the hotels follow the Muslim code. There are bars and restaurants in close proximity though.
This hotel functions as an ideal base to explore historic Stone Town. Wander down its labyrinth of cobbled streets and get lost among the twisting alleyways - it's part of the fun! Wander down to the beach and stroll along the scenic seafront. Or savour all the sights and sounds of the most atmospheric city in sub-Saharan Africa from your private balcony.
