Perched near the top of a valley, high above a sprawling coffee plantation and facing the Eastern wall of the Ngorongoro Crater is the Tlomo Mountain Lodge. Simple, yet stylish, Tlomo provides guests with an affordable base, as well as all necessary amenities needed to explore the surrounding park and venture further afield.
Aeons before Ngorongoro became the crater it is now, a gigantic volcanic mountain had its place. The volcano’s eruption left the world’s only intact caldera in its wake, while the cauldron-like shape of the crater and rich volcanic soil allowed life to flourish within its parameters. Maasai herders, along with their cattle, roam from one grazing patch to the next while predator and prey play the age-old game of cat-and-mouse within the abundant rim of Ngorongoro.
Tlomo Lodge is separated between its main building, consisting of comfy lounge and dining areas with a terrace reaching out towards the coffee plantation below, and the 24 detached cottages available, allowing guests to be as sociable or as private as they please. Guests at the lodge can take guided walks to a nearby waterfall, stroll along the nature trails in the area and venture further afield to explore the crater and Lake Manyara.
