In the centre of the Katavi National Park surrounded by wide open plains, swamps and woodland is the wonderful Chada Katavi Camp. Here in your luxury tent, one of only six at the camp, you may find it difficult to sleep with the sounds of the African bush so very close. An elephant might decide to feast on Tamarind fruit right outside your tent or the local hippo lawnmower might keep you awake with its constant cropping. But with so much to see and do in your day, you might fall asleep from exhaustion regardless. A game drive through the park following no road at all is a different experience, you might see one of Katavi's massive herds of buffalo and decide to drive closer, you can. A game walk will get you even closer than a drive, closer than you ever though possible, animals that would normally have been scared away by the sound of the vehicle will graze happily in your presence when you approach on foot, in a word, incredible!
From its elevated vantage point on a peninsula that rises out of the miombo woodland, the camp is perfectly positioned for panoramic views over the Chada plain. And surrounded by acacias, kigelias and tamarinds, the campsite itself is often times a source of shade and food for the local wildlife. At Chada camp you could be perfectly entitled to stay in camp and you would still see more game than many other safari destinations in Africa.
