The intimate Quatermain's Camp is located on the Amakhala Game Reserve on the end of the Garden Route in The Eastern Cape. Designed as a 1920s expedition camp, Quatermains offers Big 5 safaris on both Amakhala Game Reserve and Shamwari Game Reserve.
2 game drives are on offer every day with experienced rangers, lasting between 3 and 4 hours. Guests staying for 2 nights or longer can also go on a guided bush walk to learn about the vegetation and smaller wildlife of the area. Both Amakhala and Shamwari sit at the point where 5 of South Africa’s 7 biomes merge. Look out for cheetah, giraffe, hyena, the bat-eared fox, porcupine, vervet monkey, eland, and kudu along with the Big 5 and a plethora of other animals.
The exclusive camp sleeps only 6 guests in 3 1900s style en-suite tents, ensuring an authentic and exclusive bush safari experience. Enjoy local cuisine in the centralised boma, with dinners served under the stars. Relax on your private deck and look out for passing bushbuck and birds and fall asleep to the music of the surrounding bush.
