On a headland overlooking the western fringes of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, Hluhluwe River Lodge offers resplendent views of this UNESCO World Heritage Site in the shady, forested surroundings of a conservancy. With subtropical paradises such as Sodwana Bay and Big 5 destinations such as Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park a short drive away, this forested river lodge is the ideal base for self-drivers exploring the region.
Visitors can enjoy hippo and crocodile tours on the St Lucia Estuary - part of the iSimangaliso Park which also boasts 4 of the Big 5. Avid divers, anglers, and beach bums will be thrilled to spend a day at Sodwana Bay or Cape Vidal. A stroll around Hluhluwe’s markets will have visitors leaving with locally-made crafts while a stop by DuMaZulu Cultural Village will shed light on Zulu culture and history.
The lodge has 2 Honeymoon suites, a Family Chalet, and 8 Standard Chalets. Each has air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, and wooden decks. Guests can spend time at the main lodge’s outdoor lounge, sipping on a beer from the bar or enjoying the complimentary tea and coffee on tap.
