Isandlwana Lodge

Live a piece of Zulu history

Isandlwana Lodge is an awe-inspiring building carved into the side of the Nyoni Rock in Kwazulu Natal. This mountain bore the weight of Ntshingwayo, King Cetshwayo’s Senior General, as he observed the Zulu warriors defeat the British Army in the battle of Isandlwana on 22 January 1879, and is rich in history.

As such, the lodge has spectacular views of the historic battlefield, plains, and mountains in the distance, as well as the Zulu village below. Highly recommended is an enthralling tour of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift with tales handed down by the late and great historian and author, Rob Gerrard. The horse riding, photographic safaris, hikes, cultural village tours, birding, and stargazing are activities that are also well worth discovering.

The lodge offers 12 luxury rooms with en-suite bathrooms and private balconies, each one an elegant fuse of traditional and contemporary styles.  All rooms have countryside and mountain views that continue to go unsurpassed. Similar views are available from the swimming pool among the rocks, and the lodge’s specialist chef will provide you with some of the most tantalising food in the area.
