Luxury accommodation with African simplicity. Mosaic Private Sanctuary on the Hermanus Lagoon near Stanford offers just that, along with excellent cuisine and 933 hectares of nature to explore. Stay in either one of the cottages or the Sanctuary's Lagoon Lodge.
Lagoon Lodge, built into an ancient milkwood grove on the lagoon edge, offers something intimate and private, with just five safari-style suites, built with stone and thatch harvested from the reserve, to accommodate up to 10 guests. Your stay at the lodge is fully-inclusive of all meals (full breakfast, light lunch or picnic, and gourmet dinner), drinks and activities (land and water) on the reserve. Relax in the large tub in your private chalet or bathe beneath the African sky in the outdoor shower.
Alternatively, stay in one of the stone self-catering Mosaic Cottages - great for families and little ones who need space to run wild. Cottages sleep 2 to 9 guests and are complete with kitchen facilities, indoor fireplaces, outdoor patios and braais.
Day or night, unwind in the spa pool overlooking a bird sanctuary with the lagoon and mountains as a spectacular backdrop. Listen for the sound of the ocean waves and the call of the African Fish Eagle. A place to unwind and be renewed. A touch of heaven on earth, coloured by wildflowers of fynbos, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the lagoon, ancient milkwood thickets and the majestic Overberg Mountains. In winter when outdoor activities are a little trickier, guests are treated to wine tasting or day trips to Hermanus.
Activities at Mosaic
Go on a Nature Based Quad Bike Tour, with panoramic views of the ocean, lagoon, and mountains. Guided birdwatching, nature walks through the fynbos kingdom, kayaking on the lagoon and Klein River and sunset excursions to the top of the sand dunes are free of charge for guests. The nearby seaside towns of Stanford, Gansbaai (shark cage diving, anyone?), Cape Agulhas and Hermanus offer a host of things to see and do. The wine regions of the Hemel-en-Aarde and Walker Bay and some great golf courses are not too far away either. And then, of course, right in front of your suite here is 933 hectares and 4 kilometres of lagoon waiting to be explored on foot and by whalewatchers.
