What makes a safari family-friendly?

Travelling with the whole family can involve a lot of planning and compromise, but with Rhino Africa managing everything from behind the scenes, it quickly becomes the family holiday of your wildest dreams, particularly when on safari.

Many luxury lodges understand the importance of family bonding time and have specific itineraries in place for children as well as group activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Malaria-free Location

Although malaria is preventable, some people would rather focus their travelling attention towards malaria-free zones, particularly those travelling with young families. Luckily, South Africa is home to a number of malaria-free safari zones that ensure none of Africa’s authenticity is sacrificed. The Garden Route and Big 5 The Eastern Cape safari destinations are the most desired malaria-free areas but another winning option is Madikwe Game Reserve. Not only can families see the Big 5 at Madikwe, but cheetah, black rhino, and wild dog, too.

Child-Minding Services

There are many wonderful destinations that provide parents with child-minding services so that they have the opportunity to pursue their own interests and enjoy some alone time while their little angels are safely looked after.

Kiddies Entertainment & Kiddie Safaris

Ulusaba has a passionate team of staff and an in-depth kids programme that includes a mini-ranger bush walk, babysitting services, safari MasterChef courses, rock painting, sand art, and much more. Boredom is sure to be absent during any stay here.

The safari scene in Southern Africa is wide ranging, providing travellers with incredible freedom of choice ensuring that there will be a safari to suit every family. Our passion is to provide that tailor-made touch so that your family holiday is as luxurious and stress-free as it is entertaining and memorable.

Our favourite child-friendly lodges

Certain lodges are our child-friendly favourites such as Tintswalo Safari Lodge in the Kruger National Park and Londolozi Varty Camp in Sabi Sand Region. Another destination that goes the extra mile for families and places great emphasis and children is Ulusaba Private Game Reserve which forms part of the Greater Kruger Area.
